We had the great honor of being invited to the Battel families sugarbush in the thumb yesterday. What a wonderful day! It’s such a treasure to have the kids be even more connect to the food we eat and see where it comes from. We’ve done the metroparks sugarbush in the past, but nothing beats going to a real sugarbush farm. They did such a nice job of educating both the homeschool kids AND their parents.
The syrup, is like golden drops of sun. Amazing!
We did this trick with Carter too. Sadly, I don’t even remember when it stopped it must have been a gentle weaning off the flip Now it’s Skye’s new favorite way to be independent!
The first is me trying to capture Skye saying things in her own way. I wanted to capture those words before they changed. And sure enough owow is quickly becoming water.
The second is the day we were getting ready to go to the farm where we get our milk from. Skye was running around all morning ‘cited, cow!’ of course I couldn’t get it out of her once the camera was on. She did love the cow and it was a fun trip!
We taught Skye to say bubba (so long ago, I can’t remember) because she needed a word for her brother and Carter was much to hard to say. Well, it isn’t any longer! I was so surprised to hear her just come out and say it one day. Just more proof she’s growing up faster than I want her too!
It’s hard to believe that it was only one year ago that I discovered Nankin Mills and their wonderful programs. Carter has enjoy the Nature Tots program they offer and we look forward to taking homeschool classes in the future. Here is my latest review I submitted to show just how I feel about the program
Nature Tots Review
We are just finishing up our 4th round of nature tots. This is such a wonderful program for little kids. In today’s culture of NDD (Nature Deficit Disorder*) it’s so nice to have a program that gets kids excited about nature and the planet! Matt and Carol are ambassador of the earth and what they share with the children is a gift that will last a lifetime. It should be said that during the class they didn’t only teach the children, they taught the adults too. Their passion is contagious! They helped me find my way back to nature and now I will be able to knowledgeably include nature studies in my homeschooling lessons.
I hope you continue this program for many years. It will be a wonderful service to the children of the area.
Carter says;
I really like the turtle part because it’s all about turtles and other things. I really like taking nature walks.
Thank you so much Matt and Carol for another fantastic program!
Here is a great video to explain some history of the mill.
Here is the video that goes along with the pudding face picture. Skye is having a snack while Carter and his friend are playing in the other room. Skye is practicing her favorite words including Buba (her word for Carter). Enjoy
yes, more videos and stuff of the kids. I dunno, it might be boring to you, but it amuses me First up. Skye ate a green crayon. I’m not sure how much she ate of it (maybe all ?!?) but she had the green teeth and THAT look (see video) afterward. Another adorable, must.not.forget. moment! I have to youtube the videos as my favorite (dropshots) is having problems with the new format ???
Second, Carter learned to swing this year! He actually never liked swinging before this year. Not ever. But now he loves it and can do it all by himself! Skye has always loved to swing.
