Homeschool Week 4

Posted on Oct 04, 2008 under Homeschool | 4 Comments

Ok, these posts might be boring but I like seeing what we’ve done ;)

This week we tried something different. We used this book. It was different. It’s all laid out by day and it uses things you can find in your home. Skye came along for the ride, as usual, but it was more geared towards 5’s. Which is fine with me, she’s 2. With the FIAR I could adjust the lessons towards her. But again, I’m not worried about her learning much now. Carter seemed to like it very well. He looked forward to what ever the days lessons brought. It wasn’t my favorite but it’s a nice break from FIAR. I thought some of it was hooky. And really, too much in one given day. We didn’t do it all, we picked and choose. Again, I think I’m switching to unschooling. I think we learn more when we have the time/energy to explore what interests us.

Highlights;
It was Bb week so we did worksheets and other activities related to B.
And circles.
We created an All About Me book. With worksheets all about Carter.
We added circle time this week and I think we will continue. Pledge, calender and weather.

Sunday ~ Church. Potluck @ friends. Carter found a dirt slide, had a TON of fun!!
Monday ~ Playing with friends and nature walk. Family game night.
Tuesday ~ Nature Walk with nature study
Wednesday ~ Home day, visit from friends, getting stuff done! Nature walk on our block, we found 5 different varieties of trees, including 2 different kinds of oaks!
Thursday ~ Library storytime. Open Gym. UUCF LLF (@ our church) in the evening, kids played in nursery. Carter really liked it and would like to ‘help out with the babies more often’. Awwh, sweet boy!
Friday ~ Grocery shopping, cleaning
Saturday ~ Farmers market, Greenfield Village
B with beans
Self portirats
tracing circles
we did seasons as well
the books we read this week
nature walk on our street

That’s it! Back to FIAR next week. The Bee Tree!!

CSA Week #18

We moved our pick up over to the Farmington market a few weeks ago and I’m so happy we did! We run into friends, people from church but the best benefit are the artisans. In the few weeks we’ve been picking up there we have learned about glass blowing, got a lesson on honey, weaved a basket and felt a real sense of community. The people there are so enthusiastic! We also got to view the scarecrows that people have made up for a contest. Such fun!
